Debating
As well as being as challenging, exciting and enjoyable as any team sport, debating offers profound and lasting benefits for students. Debating improves the ability to form balanced, informed arguments and to use reasoning and evidence. The vast and varied topics that students encounter throughout their debating careers enhance their education, open their minds and increase awareness of local, national and global issues. Allora P-10 State School offers students in years 8 to 10 the opportunity to learn the skills of debating and to compete in the Toowoomba section of the Queensland Debating Union Competition.
Chess
Students from both Primary and Secondary are encouraged to participate in Chess competitions. Mr Brad Johnston organises both in school chess activities and competitions and also enters teams from our school to compete against other schools in Toowoomba.
